Joseph Ashford

 My Name is Joseph Stanley Ashford.  I was born in Gympie, Queensland, Australia on the 24th March 1940.  My Parents were Stanley Ashford and Edna Findlay.  I have two sisters, Valerie Joyce and Janice Margaret.  I have two brothers, Noel James and Gary Williams.  The family movements are:- Curra (via Gympie), Maroochydore, Kallangur (via Brisbane), Nambour and Amamoor (via Gympie).  My brothers' movements are :- Curra, Gympie, Brisbane, Mackay and Mt. Isa.

This line comes from Devon, England. George Ashford married Elizabeth Northan in Bow, Devon, England on 14th May 1865.  They left London, England on 18th June 1865 for Australia.  They sailed on the 1243 Ton ship "Empress of the Seas" and arrived in Keppel Bay Rockhampton Queensland Australia on the 24th September 1865.  There were 496 Passengers and 45 Crew.  There were 11 births and 27 deaths.  The cargo was Railway Plant.  The Ships Captain was David Davies and Surgeon Super William John Gaye.

This line comes from the county Aberdeen Scotland.  Andrew Findlay a farm labourer departed London on the 5th June 1886. on the ship "Dacca", arriving at Townsville, Australia on the 23rd. July 1886.  Andrew came to Australia on an assisted passage, and had to work for two years for Maurylean Sugar Co. Townsville as payment for his passage.
